Steam cooking in a pressure cooker

Steam cooking is a healthy and gentle way to prepare food, where the food is cooked with steam in a closed container. A pressure cooker offers the perfect solution for this, as it traps the steam inside the pot, thus enabling an optimal cooking method.

Steam cooking in a pressure cooker

The Vitavit® Premium features a pressureless steam cooking setting. Using an insert, you can also gently steam food in the pressure cooker. The steam escapes through the steaming crown, and the cooking time is the same as with conventional cooking. You can find the cooking time guide here.

1. Fill with water

Fill the pot with a minimum amount of water (see the "Min" mark).

Set cooking level 3.

Set the cooking crown to "steam cooking" and heat the pot for the regular duration.

4. No evaporation necessary

Since no pressure is built up with this method, the cooking crown does not lift and the pot can be opened at any time without prior steam release.

Tip

Remove the hot insert from the pot using a fork after the cooking time has elapsed.
