Using an unperforated steaming insert, several dishes can be cooked in “layers” at the same time in a pressure cooker. That saves energy and time. Perforated steaming inserts make steam cooking possible above liquid, such as water or broth.

Cooking with a steaming basket

This is how cooking with an insert for pressure cookers works

Use your pressure cooker as usual with the corresponding cooking levels and, if needed, place the trivet insert inside the pot. The cooking levels depend on the cooking method and the dish. Vitavit® Premium pressure cookers have 3 cooking levels.

Level 3 (116 °C, express cooking level)

  • This corresponds to approximately ⅓ to ½ the cooking time with a conventional cooking pot and is ideal for meat or stews.

Level 2 (113 °C, rapid cooking level)

  • Approximately 25% longer than level 3 and well suited for less delicate vegetables.

Level 1 (110 °C, slow cooker level)

  • Approximately 50% longer than level 3 and well suited for delicate vegetables or fish.

The Vitaquick® series pressure cookers have 2 cooking levels.
