Ingredients
| 2 | shallots |
| 2 | garlic cloves |
| 2 | flakes butter |
| 1 EL | brown sugar |
| 150 ml | strained tomatoes |
| 2 EL | BBQ sauce |
| 1 EL | balsamic vinegar |
| 1 TL | Worcestershire sauce |
| 1 TL | smoked paprika powder |
| 1 TL | honey |
| pepper, coarse salt |
Instructions
Step 1 of 4:
Slice the onions into thin strips. Melt the butter in a stainless steel pan and gently sweat the onions over medium heat for about 15-20 minutes.
Step 2 of 4:
Finely chop or crush the garlic and briefly fry it with the onions. Add the brown sugar and let it caramelize slightly.
Step 3 of 4:
Stir in the strained tomatoes, BBQ sauce, balsamic vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Then add the smoked paprika, honey, pepper, and optional chili.
Step 4 of 4:
Let the sauce reduce over low heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring regularly. The sauce should become dark, glossy, and thick.
